Writing under the Full Moon

Writing under the Full Moon brings some of the best creativity, some of the most romantic dialogue, some of the most unique characters, and provides a sense of peace and balance while writing.

With this Full Moon today, and with the opposition between Capricorn and Cancer it is creating a balancing energy of Yin & Yang, dark and light, flow and structure.

I am feeling the balance today; I will harness this and create something beautiful. I may write some music or I may write a story, but what I do know is that I will create with passion and a sense of balance.

We Made It Out Alive – Coming Soon

Over the past two years, I dove into the World of Psychological Thriller writing! Putting it mildly, it was quite the experience! I have a new appreciation for Stephen King!

In writing, We Made It Out Alive, I found myself craving more of the story; it wouldn’t surprise me if somewhere down the road, a sequel is created.

I hope you will enjoy reading my new novel; it is filled with mystery, suspense and hidden clues throughout the entire story.

Jacqueline Burke, Author – This Is Me

I woke up this morning with the thought that not all writers are the same; we have our own style.

When I started writing, I decided a very long time ago, I felt it was important to write in a way that appeals to everyone – or to at least try to appeal to everyone. Not in interest or variety, but in style.

First and foremost, it is important to exercise the mind, feed it information and knowledge, feed it experiences, and feed it a way to escape into a World that is unlike the World we live in today.

Secondly, not all of us have the attention span to read a 200 to 600 page novel filled with description, filled with several story lines and filled with many character names to remember. For some, this is and can be a challenge.

Lastly, we don’t all have the time in a day to read novels that are heavy in page numbers. With working two and three jobs a day, caring for family, and still needing time in the day to escape into a good book during some well deserved “me” time; it can be a blessing to come across a good novel that fits this as well.

I’ve tried to keep all of this in mind; I’ve developed a “to the point” writing style.

I wanted to express my writing style to you; there are many that seem to be forgotten in the World of writing. Reading is very important; my goal was to provide an escape into fiction that not only kept the readers interests, but left them with the need to not put the book down.

I hope you enjoy reading my novels as much as I have enjoyed writing them.

First, I would like to update you on what has been going on in our World.

The past 6 months, my husband and I have been writing music with Corey Lee Barker, Creative Director at MC1 Nashville Music Publishing. We have had the time of our lives and have enjoyed every single day pursuing our passions in music.

I have not forgotten about writing my fiction, non-fiction, and recipe book series, in fact, I’ve been still working on all of these projects as well. Stay tuned for more updates on those projects.

Jacqueline Burke, Author – How It All Started!

When I think back to when I first became interested in writing, it all focused around listening to music. This is really, how it all started!

I also did an extreme amount of reading; books, magazines, short stories, and even jewel case covers of CD’s. I would read, pretty much, anything! As I read, there was always music playing in the background. Some days I would have the radio on or a CD playing, but other times, I would just hear a tune in my head. I would start humming!

Music made me do it!

I found I was at complete peace when I was reading, writing, and doing it all with music playing. Music made it easier for me to visualize. Music helped me to get into a certain mood when writing fiction, but especially when I wrote The Good Vibes Only Roadshow and Love Grandma (recipe book series).

I spent many years in jobs that truly, “just weren’t for me”, but I had to work and support my family. I did what I needed to do at the time. There came a time, while working these jobs, I just couldn’t do it anymore. I needed to be me! In finding me, I played a lot of music and wrote in one journal after another.

Here I am! Music made me do it!

I feel very fortunate to have been able to find myself with music, with reading, and with writing.

I am content with who I am and with who I will continue to be in the future. I am not made of money, but instead I am made out of creativity and peace. To me, that is more valuable!

For the past 3 months, we have had an awesome time writing music with some great people out of Nashville, TN.  Especially this last week, has been truly amazing!

For the love of music, has been a major ingredient in our family; music has always been a driving force behind what we do in our lives.  Music inspires creativity, inspires happiness, inspires friendships, and in fact, inspires healing!  Like I say, “For The Love Of Music!”

Jacqueline Burke, Author – Writing Style

We all have a different writing style; some may want to paint a picture using 20 pages of description before they even get to the dialogue, while others just pour it out from their heart, while leaving the visualization to the reader!  I tend to leave something for the reader to create in their own mind; that is part of reading a great book.

When I read a book, I like to be able to visualize the characters, the environment, and feel with my heart, what they are going through.  I like to have the option to do this, however this is my own opinion.  I tend to create this in my own writing.  I find it also helps to create more interest with my readers.

I put my readers in the driver’s seat 😊❤

What do you like to read?  Do you prefer to contribute your own creativity to a novel with your visualization, or do you prefer to have it all created for you?  I know this is a personal preference, but it is important to honor everyone’s creative styles.  That is what makes us unique!  At the end of the day, we end up balancing each other out with our styles, which makes it even more special.  We are creating options, choices, and inspiration for our readers.

Writing and creativity is a gift to cherish; there is no right or wrong way, there is no “by the book”, but what there is, is called “your way”, and that is important to focus on.  Following your own way of writing, brings the best stories, the best creativity, and the best projects!  Follow your own way!
